With the fog that from autumn to spring often puts a dense veil over the landscape, derelict manor and farm houses, barns and other ramshackle buildings appear and disappear out of the white - witnesses of a time long ago still showing off with architectural details of grandezza.
Trabucchi - Fishing Huts and Other Typical Fishing Equipment
Fike Net Fishing and mussel gardens are the typical fishing techniques in this area and have a very long tradition. The riverbanks and partly the shore of the Mediterranean Sea are covered with fishing huts called "trabucchi", many of them neglected and dilapidated, others very modern and so futuristic that it looks as if some Martians have landed to fish here.
This tradition of fike netting and cultivating mussels is reflected in the cuisine of the Po Delta. Fish and seafood dominate the menus.
